Wouldn’t it be incredible to know that a superhero is watching out for your IT infrastructure? That regardless of flood, fire, or data corruption, you have the security of knowing that your servers will always be up and running? For the City of Graham in North Carolina, Steve Brooks, President of Brooks Network Services, played the superhero when he made sure the city is using the StorageCraft solution to protect all of its critical servers.
For nearly two decades, Brooks Network Services has provided IT services to its Burlington-area customers. The service provider is the trusted technology advisor for Jeff Wilson, IT Systems Manager for the City of Graham.
With the entire city’s systems on the line, Jeff could not afford to implement a solution that failed to provide reliable support during a disaster. He followed Steve's recommendation and installed StorageCraft® ShadowProtect® SPX, the award-winning backup and disaster recovery solution
“The StorageCraft product offering is one of the most solid on the market in this space. What’s more, it is support-oriented. You can vouch for a product on the market today, but if there’s not a solid support staff behind the product, then the product really cannot stand on its own,” says Steve.
Jeff didn’t have to wait long to put the powerful recovery capabilities of ShadowProtect SPX to use. He recalls how the entire city’s SQL database was corrupted due to some hardware quirks.
“We bought a new SAN, and I was given some misinformation from the SAN company on the install process. We did what they told us we could do and we ended up with data corruption across the entire LUN,” recounts Jeff.
But the team at Brooks Network Services was prepared: they had put ShadowProtect SPX into use. “I made sure that we had data protection for both physical and virtual environments, with backups being created every 30 minutes. I was able to recover the LUN, move it to a newly created LUN, and get the city’s data back.
Without StorageCraft, we probably would have lost everything,” he adds. For Jeff, recovery was a success. The town systems were only briefly offline while he restored the database.
Jeff is impressed with the product’s ease of use and adds that he also received excellent support on the incident from both his account managers and StorageCraft Support via the technical support line.
“The tech support has always been great; anytime I call in, I get someone who is knowledgeable and very responsive. Equally important was the support from the sales team, Mark Deal and Carl Bjerke. Even though they sold me the product, they helped get it implemented, and they are also around to help when I need something,” Jeff says. Jeff is happy to see a corporation still caring and looking out for its customers, and he recommends StorageCraft products and services.
“I like building relationships with the company. You are not just a person out there to get more money from; they [StorageCraft] will actually create a relationship with you. StorageCraft is a large company operating as a mom-and-pop store. They put their customers first, and that is important, not only in government but in public sales as well,” says Jeff. The StorageCraft solution works around the clock to protect the City of Graham’s systems and guarantees speedy recovery from disaster.
The award-winning StorageCraft ShadowProtect SPX provides backup and disaster recovery, data protection, and managed system migration for Windows and Linux systems on virtual and physical machines. If you’re working in a hybrid environment, you’ll likely appreciate being able to run one backup and recovery software solution on all machines.
